Non-Biased Bowling
It has become tradition for the girls at work to take Nathan out for his birthday every year. Nathan works in general maintenance/trash-pick-up/random chores or tasks. (i.e. "Nathan, can I get 20 copies of this, collated, stapled, 2-sided?" "Sure." "Nathan, will you take these 50lb boxes back to shipping?" "Anything for you, Becca." "Nathan, will you go climb 4 flights of stairs and get me last year's reports? oh and shovel all the snow in the walkways, and bring me copy paper?" "Ok". The man never complains. He is quite possibly the sweetest person in Branch county. He's 37 now, but has the mentality of about a 12 year old. So, we take him out for his Birthday every year. He starts the countdown to his birthday 3 months in advance, so none of us EVER forget when it is.
Now that i've made a completely useless introduction, i'll get to the real pondering thought.
While i was there, I looked at the board of "fame" for the local bowlers. A picture of a 16-year old kid was posted, showing he got into the 300 club. Other league stats were posted, along with group pictures.
So one thing about bowling just amazes me. You can never look at someone and guess whether they are good at bowling or not. There is really no BIAS to this sport! Say if someone is really tall, it's assumed they can probably play basketball. If you're chinese, bets are down you'd lose at ping pong. Mexican? Bet they can kick your butt in soccer.
But BOWLING. Hmmmm... Looking at these pictures, I see black, white, asian, tall, short, thin, fat, young, old....
No WAY!! You really can't pigeonhole this sport down to a certain look. A certain type.
So what does a good bowler look like? And what is the real strategy to winning? Do you just constantly practice the same swings, till you find the one that strikes? Then you just try to replicate that move over and over? I'm sure there are my ways to become a good bowler. But I know I don't have the patience to try to become one. I'm happy with my phat score of 70. Yeah i rock.
